Avner Sher

Biography

A graduate of The Israeli institute of Technology, The Technion, and Haifa’s University, Avner Sher has dedicated his life to his two great passions: art and innovative architecture. Sher’s expertise in both fields and his ability to combine them has allowed him to form an original aesthetic that is strongly evident in his haunting art works as well as his architectural creations.

Born in Haifa in 1951, Avner Sher was drawn to art from childhood, and was especially intrigued by the cubist style of Pablo Picasso. Sher acquired a degree in Architecture on Urban Planning from The Technion in 1979. While working as an architect, Sher completed his fine art studies in the University of Haifa.

In 1990 he founded Avner Sher Architects. The firm’s ground braking approach to design and architecture, and it’s out of the box form of problem solving, contributed to the company’s success. In the years since it was founded, Avner Sher Architects became Israel’s leading firm for large scale commercial and public projects.

In 1999, Avner Sher discovered a new technique. His innovative style was base on a destructive process that takes place on large scale cork boards. This chaotic creative process produces unique 3 dimensional works of art. Sher’s new style of art has been very successful and critically acclaimed. His art works were exhibited in Tel Aviv, New York, Miami, Paris and Monte Carlo.
